Do you welcome a challenge?
Do you enjoy the outdoors? Can you be part of a team? If your
answer is yes, then check out the 2008 Wilton Mentor Program backpack trip.
Travel with other youth and several adults to Red Lodge, Montana, area to spend
4 days in the Beartooth Wilderness - hiking, climbing a mountain, fishing,
relaxing, and team building.
The trip is open to anyone in grades 7-12. There will be at least two groups this
year. One group will make a less rigorous journey. The other will
make a more rigorous journey.
The groups will leave on Sunday, August 3, and return on Friday, August 8.
Thanks to donations from area organizations and the United Way, the suggested donation for the trip is
only $40.00.
This includes travel, motel, food and backpacking equipment needs. All you
need to provide is clothing and hiking boots. You will also want some
spending money for the trip to and from Red Lodge. If you plan to fish,
you will also need to buy a fishing license for Montana.
After the Mentor Program board has selected the participants, a planning meeting
will be held.
For more information, please contact Carroll Dewing or
Pastor
Paul Schauer.
Those who become part of the program are expected to give a minimum of 5 hours
of volunteer time working in the Wilton community. The first opportunity
will be on Join Hands Day, Saturday, May 3, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Form needs to be submitted by
Friday, April 11, 2008.
